Oak Ridge Lions Chili Luncheon

The Oak Ridge Lions Club held the annual Chili Luncheon February 13th at Faith Lutheran Church. The event was a great success! Thanks to Lion Jim Kolb for organizing this luncheon. Photos of the event are available in the Oak Ridge Lions Events photo album.

 April 23 Venue

For the April 23th meeting we are scheduled to meet at Jefferson Drug west end Oak Ridge, about a block off the Turnpike and Jefferson Avenue. We will meet at 12:00 Noon (can show up earlier to start the serving process) and eat from menu or take the Monday Blue Plate Special ($6.29) that includes Roast Beef, and choice of 2 sides (sides include mashed potatoes, pinto beans, green beans, cole slaw, beets, or tropical fruit). They do have a vegetable plate ($4.99), but the pinto beans and green beans are seasoned with meat. They do have a salad plate. In addition, they serve a soup of the day and a dessert of the day. The menu includes hamburgers, club sandwich, BLT, grilled chicken, chicken tender, Philly Cheesesteak, and variety of salads. Prices range from $6.49 down to $1.69 with most being around $4 or $5. Burgers don’t come with fries/onion rings – they are extra at $1.79 to $2.49. Tea and non-flavored sodas run $1.79.

Oak Ridge Lions Vision Assistance Program

The Oak Ridge Lion’s Club provides glasses for needy individuals who reside within the city limits of Oak Ridge. Qualifying individuals are responsible for obtaining their own eye glass exams/ prescriptions. The Clinton Lion’s Club provides glasses for needy persons in the Clinton area and parts of Anderson County.Other lion’s Clubs meet these needs in their areas according to the procedures established by each club

Area Lions Clubs, including ours, maintain eyeglasses donation boxes at most of the local optical shops and eye centers, including the optical shop in the Oak Ridge Walmart. Learning Ally (Formerly RFB and D) also accepts donated glasses for us….More Details here

Kroger Cares Fundraising

This program has earned the Oak Ridge Lions Club over $11,000 over the course of its existence, most of which has gone to support the Lions Kid Sight program at Vanderbilt University.
